THE MSFR FUND

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet ‏ﷺ said:

“Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and in the Hereafter.….”

(Sahih Muslim)

The Pandemic of 2020 has affected our world like nothing we knew of before.

Many individuals and families have suffered loss of life, health, and jobs. This emergency fund has been established to give temporary relief to such individuals and families in the DMV area to cover the costs of basic necessities.

Based on the need, a small Qard Hasanah will be issued. The Qard Hasanah is an interest-free loan that will be paid off in accordance with the terms agreed upon between the two parties. If the receiving party is unable to keep with the terms, they may ask for an extension and if for some reason it is determined that they will never be able to pay back, then the balance may be forgiven and considered sadaqah.

When the Qard hasanah is paid back, it will be returned to the MSFR Fund and will be used to provide emergency funds for others.

The MSFR fund is managed completely by volunteers and all donations that are received will be given as Qard Hasanah.

The MSFR fund is a project of MSFR (Muslim Students For Relief), a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
